Fabulous Fall 2019

While I do love summer, there is no denying that I also love that crisp undertone that the air takes on in late August here in Seattle. The sun may shine on but the mornings and evenings are cooler and the leaves are changing slowly. The change in seasons always holds a bit of magic for me since I grew up in a place with quite distinct seasons, that being the state of Montana. And why mourn the inevitable? The seasons will in fact, change, and so live in the moment of these dog days of summer and embrace the beauty of a new season.

I am definitely a planner, so I love to look ahead even as I try to enjoy each day for what it is. I have been leafing through glossy fashion magazines, perusing the racks and watching Instagram for hints of what is coming for fall for a couple of months now and I am loving what I am seeing.

Also, I wanted to mention that new trends are inspiration for me. I don't necessarily love or want them all, they give me a fresh perspective on what I have and how I wear things. Here are a few of my favorite fabulous fall trends that have some major buzz this season.

Cropped Jackets with Waist Belts

These jackets are such a fresh way to present a classic silhouette. They play off the jacket style, like this Vince Cropped Trench, but making it shorter and add a belt. The Topshop Miller Wool Blend Moto Jacket, is slightly slouchy and oversized with a big fabulous hood that I adore. Oversized plaid blazers are also big this fall, literally since many of them are the oversized version.

Croc-Embossed Bags

The Brahmin Faith Melbourne Bag is versatile and super chic, with three distinct ways to wear it. You can pop it on your wrist with the adjustable front strap, attach the removable strap to style as a crossbody or wear it as a shoulder bag. This bag comes in seven croc-embossed leather colors, and the gorgeous deep red Lava color certainly caught my attention. I think the size is perfect and the $265 price tag is excellent. I also think that the Staud Kenny Croc-Embossed Leather Top Handle Bag in sassy pistachio green is off the hook.

Western Boots

Western boots have been going strong all year and I love it! The shorter version, like this Ganni color blocked pair (not shown, a block of pink in the back!) make everything look chic and stylish. The tall western boot is also fabulous; I love this Lucchese Lily metallic version, or these rich colored brown and black Calvera pair by Jeffrey Campbell. And I am seeing floral dresses and white western boots all over the place for fall, which looks so fresh.

The New Plaids

Plaid for fall may not be groundbreaking but the way it is being presented this fall is making it a stand out. Plaids are being mixed up together in a gorgeous mash up of patterns that has a hint of 80s, but is definitely a modern 2019. This Timpson Plaid Trench Coat by Alice + Olivia in a perfect example of mad plaids, as is this bright mod houndstooth Darma Combo Crossover Mini, also by Alice + Olivia. If you want to go for wear a classic plaid, like houndstooth, these Roger Vivier Gommettine Houndstooth Stiletto Pumps are as chic as they come.

Puff and Statement Sleeves

From shirts to blouses to sweaters, the ultra feminine trend of puff and statement sleeves are taking center stage this fall. Zara has so many choices it is a bit overwhelming, but I do love both the Balloon Sleeved Blouse in gorgeous plaid, featured above, and this fantastic little Top with Full Sleeves, which comes in 3 colors and is a mere $19.99.  The oversized sleeves on this ASOS DESIGN shirt makes the basic button down silhouette a big statement piece that is anything but basic. Zimmerman has fantastic statement sleeves in many of their pieces, and this Rebecca Minkoff Tabby Dress hits the mark with its perfectly puffed long sleeves.

Metallics and Sequins

Daytime metallics are still a "thing", and a gorgeous thing at that. I hope they never go back into the nighttime only lane. When my husband and I took our trip to Paris in July we got up the first day and decided to just start walking to combat the cobwebs in our jet lagged heads. We walked all the way through Le Marais in the 4th arrondissement and ended up at Merci, with its iconic colored car out front. Soon after a incredibly hard rainstorm hit, so I busied myself with the sale racks. Of course on the non sale I spotted this gorgeous Isabel Marant Étoile Beatrice Skirt and fell in love. Its deep metallic sheen is a perfect contrast to a causal daytime tee, or dressed up for evening with a black silk blouse. Whether it is boots, a moto jacket, or a fabulous blouse, remember to shine bright this fall.

I am enjoying the sweet end of summer days but also cleaning out my real closet and sending things over to my virtual Poshmark closet (I am @lisa4124 if you want to take a look!) and getting ready for a new season of fabulous fall. Have a lovely rest of the summer!

xx
